The Woman
with plastic hair
and deep water eyes
the rubber lips and stong steel teeth
made of elephant's tusks

the woman's heels
her stockings, her knees
the panties, her crotch
her nipples, her things

her needs

her voice
inside her voice box
speaking words in disguise
her contradiction of vulnerable despair in office clothes
counting the days

made of sequined buttons and velvet maroon
by Saturday nights

made of platform and make up, and yellow silk yarn

make me real by what I say
let the call of my voice put an end
to my struggle as a woman to be heard
from within.
